On September 21, 2022, the United States House of Representatives hosted a hearing on “Examining Long-Term Care in America: The Impact of the Coronavirus in Nursing Homes.” Though the committee ultimately decided to invite a nursing home resident to speak instead of Rachel, they asked her to enter her testimony as a Statement for the Record. Chairman Clyburn entered her statement into the Congressional Meeting Record and her statement was also given to all members of the House of Representatives. Her statement now lives on house.gov, the official website of the United States House of Representatives, available for the public to see forever: https://www.congress.gov/117/meeting/house/115148/documents/HHRG-117-VC00-20220921-SD013.pdf
Nursing homes are sad and lonely places to live, with very little personal freedom for residents. People living in nursing homes all too often feel forgotten. Will you join us in lifting up our elderly friends by reminding them that they deeply matter and are loved? Will you join us in sending handmade cards to a nursing home listed here or one of your choosing?
